Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee provides technical and methodological support for the Group’s activities, helping to develop strategic guidelines in key areas such as technological innovation, sustainability and digital transition. It fosters dialogue among academic, industrial and institutional experts, assessing the long-term impact of corporate decisions. The Committee also plays an active role in driving and deepening research, development and the Group’s scientific positioning.
Francesco Rizzi
Francesco Rizzi is an Associate Professor of Management at the Institute of Management of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, with over twenty years of academic experience. His research focuses on the intersection of corporate sustainability, circular economy and innovation in green markets, with particular attention to the strategic and operational impacts of the ecological and digital transition on businesses. He is the author of more than 120 scientific publications, including over 50 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. He regularly serves as a peer reviewer and sits on the reviewer boards of several international journals in the fields of sustainability and innovation management. He has participated in over 60 national and international research projects and has acted as evaluator for various national and European research programmes. He maintains ongoing collaborations with national and European scientific networks active in the areas of sustainability, energy and innovation, promoting dialogue between research, policymaking and industry.
Massimo Battaglia
He has been an Associate Professor of Management at Sapienza University of Rome’s Department of Management since 2018. He serves on the faculty committee for the PhD in Management at the Sant’Anna School and on the Scientific–Technical Committee of the GECA Master’s programme. From 2004 to 2018 he was a researcher at the Sant’Anna School, where he continues to collaborate within the “CSR & Resilient Communities” research area. He also taught at La Rochelle Business School (France) from 2016 to 2018 and was a researcher at the IEFE Institute of Bocconi University in Milan from 2002 to 2004. His areas of expertise include environmental management, corporate social responsibility, local development policies and sustainability-driven innovation. He is the author of numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has coordinated national and European projects on environmental and social responsibility topics. He regularly serves as a reviewer for several international academic journals and is a member of leading scientific associations in regional sciences and sustainability. He was a founding partner of ERGO S.r.l., a spin-off company of the Sant’Anna School.
Tiberio Daddi
He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Management of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, where he is part of the Sustainability Management research group. His research interests include corporate environmental management, performance analysis, circular economy, industrial symbiosis, life cycle assessment and the evaluation of environmental policies. He coordinates numerous international research projects funded by European grants and serves as an evaluator of project proposals for the European Commission under Horizon Europe. He is the author of many scientific publications in international journals, vice-coordinator of the International PhD in Management, scientific director of a postgraduate course on sport management and sustainability, and a lecturer in executive masters and traditional degree programs.
Francesco Testa
He is a Full Professor of Sustainability Management at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, where he leads the SCOPES research group (Strategy, Consumerism, Organizing, and ProcurEment for Sustainability Resources and Approaches) and serves as Vice-Director of the Institute of Management. A former partner in the university spin-off Ergo S.r.l., his research focuses on circular economy models, sustainable entrepreneurship, and the interplay between institutional pressures, motivational drivers, and environmental and economic performance. He has participated in numerous European Commission–funded projects on environmental management and is Associate Editor of Business Strategy and the Environment and CSR & Environmental Management, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of Organization & Environment. He has authored over 100 publications—articles, books, and book chapters—on sustainability topics.
Marco Frey
He is a Full Professor of Business Economics and Management at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, where he serves as Director of the Master’s in Environmental Management and Control (GECA) and Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Sustainability and Climate. He also teaches at the Catholic University of Milan and at LUISS Business School in Rome, where he is a Senior Fellow. He is Chair of the Scientific Committee of Symbola, a member of the Scientific Committee of CDP Foundation, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Touring Club Italiano. He holds a degree in Economic and Social Disciplines from Bocconi University in Milan, was awarded an Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship in 2000, served as President of the Global Compact Network Italy, and has been a board member of Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Housing Sociale and Fondazione Minoprio, as well as President of Cittadinanzattiva.
